African American painter Juan Logan was born in Nashville. His paintings, sculptures, and installations are reflective of his experiences of racial and institutional power structures in the South and prompt viewers to consider social responsibility. Having attended Howard and Clark Atlanta University, he earned his Masters of Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He is retired as a professor of studio art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. less
