A wonderful wide French art deco hanging fixture in wrought iron holding a nice Schneider shade in colored cameo glass. This model is called Mirettes. Between 1923 and 1933 Schneider made vases table lamps and chandeliers with this pattern. Mirette is the old French word for hand mirror and is used for the plant 'mirroir de venus' / mirror of venus. A type of bell flower (Legousia speculum-veneris to be exact). This pendant light can be dated around 1926-1933. I show a picture of two mirettes table lamps in the book on Schneider by Joulin and Maier.
The beautiful large bowl is held by the original Schneider fixture in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Here wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for night lamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
The bowl is signed Le Verre Français on the rim and with the Berlingot mark in light and dark blue next to it. The pendant has a total height of 53,5 cm high (21 inches) and the glass bowl has a diameter of some 40 cm (15-3/4"). It's in very good condition. Like almost all these hand-blown Schneider cameo bowls the shade is not a perfect circle. The iron mount has a nice patina. It is rewired with an American standard socket.
