The wear that exists from actual daily use is entirely random and adds a dimension to the visual effect of the bench impossible to achieve with new paint. The seat of the bench raises on its original iron hinges to reveal an enclosed storage space. This bench was always placed closest to the front door where wet outerwear could be easily shed.
