Exquisite stoneware vessel from famed potter Harrison McIntosh who helped pioneer the Mid-Century Modern style of ceramics. His work features simple geometric forms such as the hypnotizing circles on this remarkable piece of art. His work has been exhibited around the US and world including the Smithsonian and the Louvre in France.
The simplistic circles on this vessel is a recurring theme in his work, as is the classic sensuous shape of the vessel. The warm green-brown color of the piece is indicative of the mid-century color palette.
This pottery is authentic to the artist; the piece has both the required HM insignia stamp and original studio sticker on the bottom, and retains the selling stickers on the underside of the lid.
This is original stoneware therefore has imperfections as indicated in closeup photos. There is also a very minor chip on the inside of the vessel opening, also shown in a photo. Notice, the chip does not show when the piece is covered, which is the preferred way of displaying the pottery.
This piece was purchased directly from Harrison's Claremont, California, studio and has only had one owner. It has been on display in a non-smoking house. His pottery currently sells up to $6000.00 and more.
