Perfect for gift-giving. This portable/foldable, sling style beach chair with matching umbrella (model LV9575) is reminiscent of the chairs in the 1940s/1950s, especially when vacationing on the eastern seaboard of the USA. Red and white striping was very much in vogue at the time. The clamp on umbrella comes in a handy plastic, see-thru carrying bag w/shoulder strap. Red/white striped nylon material, waterproof like all umbrellas. The beach chair material/fabric is a red and white striped, sturdy cotton canvas. Attached label reads: Lillian Vernon, Mount Vernon NY 10550 plus the phone number. Purchased in the 70s, assembled with the intention to be used, but never was, just stored in a cool dry place. These types of vintage sling chairs sell for $300 and higher minus the umbrella which would be extra, making this a rare opportunity. Comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home.
Umbrella measures (folded in bag) 36" long X 2.5" in dia.
Chair (disassembled in bag) measures 24.5" long X 8" high X 3" deep.
About Lillian Vernon:
In 1951, a young mom-to-be with a dream sat down at her kitchen table equipped with just 24-karat gold monogram lettering, handbags, and belts purchased from her father’s leather goods company. Her name was Lillian Vernon (aka Lillian Menasche), the namesake of the company. At the age of 24, she started Lillian Vernon by placing ads in Seventeen magazine for personalized handbags and belts. Many successful years later, Lillian’s legacy continues. As a businesswoman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Lillian brought creative innovation and marketing moxie to everything she did, impacting many lives. When Lillian Vernon went public in 1987, it was the first company traded on the American Stock Exchange founded by a woman, affirming her entire life was distinguished by tenacity and drive. less
