- The chairs have been gently used and are in very good to excellent uniform condition. On close examination there are … moreThe chairs have been gently used and are in very good to excellent uniform condition. On close examination there are some nicks and scratches to the ebonized wood, and in some places the natural grain of the wood is visible through the ebonized finish. The leather seat pads are all clean -no stains or tears- and are firmly stretched and held by the metal nail heads.The separate button tufted leather cushions are also all clean, no stains or tears, but have some nicks and slight surface scratches. Each chair is marked with the metal tag, Hoffmann made by Wittmann. The paper label stating sole authorization by the Hoffmann estate has fallen off. less

Josef Hoffmann originally designed the elegant "Armloffel" chairs in 1908 in his unique sophisticated geometric aesthetic. These were handcrafted for a limited time in the 1970s to early 80s by Wittmann Mobelwerkstatten, Austria under sole authorization by the Hoffmann estate and follow his precise design specifications. They are rare. The chairs are made of solid ebonized ashwood with spoon armrests and meticulously crafted joints, a leather seat pad firmly stretched and secured by metal nail heads, and a separate button tufted leather seat cushion. They're firm, comfortable to sit in and provide excellent support. less
