This is such a rare CT River Valley table that we were struggling to find another example in our large research library. We’re overdue for another visit to Historic Deerfield and they truly have the best CT River Valley collection. Item # HD 69.0315 is a closely related table but we believe this one is superior in every way. The table has an elongated scalloped top with a drawer on each end. The drawers were constructed with New England White Pine secondaries & have an unusual set of hand cut dovetails that extend over the drawer sides. One of the drawers has a couple of splits in the panel but it still works as intended & we'd recommend leaving it original. The legs have a string inlay, and we’d like to point out that the Mahogany used for the legs is grain matched to mirror one another. The table has a solid Mahogany top and we love the long narrow leaves. The table retains its original iron hinges, and the leaves are supported by double shuttle supports that fold into the table box. The table measures 19” wide x 41 3/4” deep x 28 3/4” tall. When the leaves are locked up the tabletop measures 35 1/2” wide x 41 3/4” deep. less
