It belongs to a series, illustrating the "Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719, being a favorite book ever since for children and adult alike
This particular plate depicts a scene titled "Crusoe Finding the Foot Prints"
The transfer is well printed in dark brown, with hand colored details in blue, green, yellow and brown and includes the whole alphabet around the rim with the central scene depicting Robinson Crusoe, a wild goat and the ocean in the background
Made by BROWNHILLS POTTERY CO, from Tunstall, Stoke-on Trent, Staffordshire England
It is clearly transfer marked with the Rd No 69963 and the B.P. Co initials
Circa 1887-1888
All original, scarce to find and very collectible
