About the artist:
Tim Cantor was a child prodigy and today is known worldwide as an American surrealist and poet. He began painting at the age of 5 with oil paints left to him by his great-grandfather, the English Artist, Lloyd Dundas Whiffen (1885-1951). At the age of 15, young Cantor won a Bank of America achievement-in-arts-award and was given his first gallery exhibition, where one of his paintings was acquired for the permanent collection of the White House. Inspired by the technical virtuosity of the classical masters and his own contemporary imagination, impassioned by the love that he shares with his wife and muse Amy, Tim Cantor is possessed by a work ethic that drives him through the night and allows him to sleep only when the sun comes up. Perhaps this explains why the line between memories and dreams is blurred in his work, and its meaning best illuminated through the enigmatic poetry and prose that often accompanies the paintings.
In 2015, Cantor began working closely with the grammy award-winning band Imagine Dragons. He created the cover for their second CD Smoke and Mirrors, as well as 13 paintings; one to represent every song. His artwork was used in the stage production and the video SHOTS. The band was collectively so inspired by Cantor’s work, they invited him to join them for a world tour, where a large gallery of the Artist’s work was presented at more than 60 shows in North America and Asia. Smoke and Mirrors reached number #1 in the world on the Billboard top 200. Cantor has had solo exhibitions worldwide, including Athens, Tokyo, Singapore, Paris, Venice, New York, Beverly Hills and San Francisco. His paintings are in important private and corporate collections worldwide. less
