If you turn the box upside down you will notice that the white porcelain glaze did not cover completely during firing. This occurred on several edges and the bottom of the feet. This is very typical where it was not necessary for the glaze to be perfect on the underside of certain objects. less

Large Old Paris Porcelain box with a white glaze in the form of a bombé commode. The top panel is of a nude woman with two dogs. The front panel is of frollicking putti's. The nicely gilt hinged frame has a laurel wreath and bow thumb latch. The legs are cabriole shaped and typically Louis XV style.
This box is obviously decorative, but would also serve nicely as a jewelry box.
