Vintage; C.1920's-30's, English Sheffield silver plate, large, oval-shaped Georgian-Style, aka Traditional serving Bowl/Platter with cobalt blue glass, "removable," insert liner. It is all in the details; such as the lion crest heads with rings on each apposing ended sides, whereupon round rings are located for handling this serving piece, easy accessibility to passing it around, or for service. The undulating fretted linear details throughout the body, are enhanced by the rope braided detail, a nuanced and simple design, yet in-between the dynamic and differing sized formats, of cake dot details utilized in a linear format, interwoven along with cameo like round emblems, as well as to the round oval, platform base. A wonderfully regal and iconic display of silver service at it's best, with a superb design esthetic for the ages, with the added, dressy sophistication for a dinner soiree, and it's parlayed inclusiveness as a must. We can certainly picture Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other holiday or special occasion(s), with this piece on a dinner scape, table top service, filled with stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes or veggies, and the likes. Maker's markings engraved on the underside, with country of provenance, England, and The shield logo with the letters S and M within and intertwined with the silversmith's identity markings.
