Vintage 2004 - 2006 "Yacht Race" serving pieces in a super fun nautical ship and sail boat pattern by Studio Nova from Mikasa. This listing is for a large shallow bowl with a matched companion small bowl designed for chips or crudité and dip. We'd suggest using it for serving shrimp and seafood cocktail sauce! The mix of sailboats, steamers, tugboats, a ship's anchor, life preservers, and pennant signal flags evokes life on the waterfront, the beach, or river. We love how the hand-painted pattern is rendered in a naive folk art style that reflects a fun, casual feeling. Pattern is painted inside and outside the piece. Colors include red, golden yellow, aqua and navy blue, lime green, and touches of aubergine purple and gray on a soft creamy white ground. Both pieces are in excellent condition, appear as if rarely used, with the exception of a small rim glaze chip on each piece--see photo. The small sauce dip bowl also shows some fine crazing on close inspection.
