This wonderful vintage German grandfather clock is a stunner with its beautifully textured amber glass that makes it stand out from all others. It was purchased in Germany in 1975. The mechanism is currently in perfect working order. The cabinet is also in excellent vintage condition with some minor nicks (photos #10 & #11) and the glass is perfect with no cracks or chips. The three brass weights have a couple of age appropriate spots on the brass but they are minor and not visible when the cabinet door is closed. The carved panel on the bottom and the carved crown are both in excellent condition. The last photo shows the original tags.
It has a lovely sounding Westminster chime, which chimes every 15 minutes, and it strikes every hour. However, the chime, as well as the strike, can be easily disabled simply by a hook inside the mechanism box. The crown can be removed for shipping, or if one prefers the look without (photo #1, #6, and #8)
It measures 16" wide x 9.5" deep x 77.5" high. Tall but not extra wide and deep, this clock would fit in any corner or wall and enhance multiple decor styles
Please be aware that grandfather clocks are wonderful time pieces whose mechanisms are somewhat sensitive, as such, although this particular one is currently in perfect working order, and keeping accurate time, it might need adjustment once it gets to its new home. A complete cleaning and overhaul by a master horologist a couple of years ago was performed so that the mechanisms would keep accurate time.
