The city of Tabriz, situated in the Northwest region of Persia, was the earliest capital of the Safavid dynasty, and it can claim to have been a centre of carpet production longer than any other city in Persia. This Tabriz carpet has a very fine weave showing a hunting design that dates back to the 17th century, recreated in the 19th century.
