Description: Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light and dark copper and gray silk … more Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light and dark copper and gray silk brocade in a dragon medallions lattice pattern, signed, with numerous red and black seal marks in various sizes and shapes. With a black silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering is raw silk in a light gold color. The image size is 25 1/8" wide x 51 1/4" 1/4" high. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

In the foreground is a riverbank pile dwelling amid bouldered banks with groves of leafy trees, pines, shrubs and grasses. Massive rounded tors rise from the forested valley at mid ground and surround a mesa with a nature viewing platform, while steep promontories dotted with sparse habitat soar into the heavens and fade to distance in traditional Chinese aerial perspective. less
