Refined and elegant pair of French Art Deco vases in the colored lead crystal that gives the crystal itself a high refractive index; they have a refined and sophisticated shape, harmonious and delicate. The pair was made between 1949 and 1951 in a workshop in the district of Nancy (France), famous for the high concentration of factories and artisans specializing in the manufacture of crystal (Daum, Baccarat, Saint Louis, etc..); certainly, the artist who created the two vases, also worked for Saint Louis, in fact in the designs of grinding was inspired by the famous glassware and finished the objects with the same high-quality of Saint Louis. The vases are made of crystal with a percentage of over 30% of lead oxide (a material developed in England by George Ravenscroft in the second half of the seventeenth century), very bright and transparent; to obtain the intense red coloration, compounds containing copper and gold chloride were added to the crystal during the fusion phase (this explains why red crystal objects are more expensive than others); the glass masters then modeled the final shape of the vases, once cooled, they cut and polished scrupulously in a decorative way the edge, while the body and also the part below were enriched by exceptional grinding performed by hand and with meticulous care using small circular stone wheels; In this way, between the ground and colored parts, a fascinating and pleasant contrast has been created; at the end the vases have been polished with a wheel of cork bark wet with mush of water and pumice, lastly the polishing phase that has been obtained with a felt wheel wet with a mush of water, iron oxide and cerium oxide. Our vases with their delightful and graceful shape tell us these wonderful stories, they are objects with a unique identity that leave us surprised by the harmony of shape and size that come together in a balanced aesthetic balance. The vases are in good condition. Measures diameter cm.11, height cm.36. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
