This photograph "La Grande Cote #2" 1993 2/10 is part of a seven year project undertaken by San Francisco based artist Jacques Cressaty from 1989 to 1996. The project was to photograph a different area of his native country, France, each year in black & white film. The regions were Bordeaux, Burgundy, Provence, Loire Atlantique, Dordogne, Normandy and Paris. Upon return to San Francisco, a selection of 12 images was chosen. They were then printed in Cibachrome which allowed the photo lab to print a reversal image in one color. This work was very well received by the galleries, and the public at large, and only a few prints remain of the edition of 10 prints and 1 artist proof. This particular image is print #2 out of 10 there is only one additional print left #3/10 thus reflecting the higher price as the series is sold. There will be no more printing once the edition is completely sold. This 4 5/8" by 4 5/8" print is signed, dated and numbered in pencil on the reverse of the print and also on the museum mat board. It is matted in a 4 ply acid free archival museum mat board. Board size is 12' x 12".
Jacques Cressaty, the recipient of several awards has his work in various collections and in the Bibliotheque de France in Paris.
Photos attached are:#1 print #2 complete view of year 1993's twelve photographs. #3 installation view of show at Gallery Route One, Point Reyes Station Summer 1993 including a selection of the first 5 years of the project.
