This beautiful vintage chandelier from the mid 90s is finished in both shiny and burnished brass.
The brass frame with the five arms and the center columns are in a burnished brass.
The wonderful swans, the canopy, the sphere at the top of the lamp and the little nodules along the arm extensions are shiny brass.
In general the brass is in excellent vintage condition with just a few signs of age (photos
#10, 11, and 12).
The arms have age related patina on the top (photo #12) that isn't visible once the chandelier is hung, as that part faces the ceiling. Under the arms there are slight age related marks, the most evident shows in photo #11. One of the "bulb holders" has some brass patina (photo #10)
The center bowl is a hand blown marbelized opaque glass that measures 13.75" in diameter and 6" high.
The five arms end in five hand blown marbleized opaque glass cups that measure 8.75" in diameter and 4" high each.
The fixture itself, in all, measures 38" in diameter and 36" high with the current number of chain links.
It is a classy piece, grand, without being ostentatious.
It was working at the time that it was taken down due to design changes, so presumably it is currently in safe, working order. The required bulbs are halogen (not included).
The Vianne Glass company dates from 1928 Bordeaux, France. Unfortunately the company is no longer in existence. Its beautiful hand blown pieces are valued for their quality, and now, for their limited availability. It was the last hand blown glass maker in France when it closed in late 2005.
