It was produced in Shanxi province during the mid 19th century where it would have been used to serve food or drink, placed either on a heated kang platform in a Chinese home or on a large daybed. The original dark finish has largely worn away especially on the table top, to leave a lovely patina formed over the years, complimenting the beautiful grain of the natural elm wood. less
