An original watercolor painting of an industrial design for a plate by Dorothie Coombes, a British artist and designer in the early 20th century, 10 1/2" tondo, inscribed in pencil in the front center of the plate design - D. Coombes, 25.9.14 (25 September 1914). The work has been matted with Antique White Museum matboard and museum backing. Unframed.
The colors are vibrant and clear, slight smudging from age and handling, two impurities in the paper to the center of the plate.
This is a lovely example of British industrial Arts and Craft design from the early 20th century.
