Giovanni Faliero's oil painting is a tribute to the landscaping paintings of the eighteenth century, and in particular to the works of Giovanni Paolo Panini (1691-1765), painter and architect, famous for his "architectural views".
Faliero's pictorial technique is mainly classic although it is enriched in this painting by a vaguely romantic taste and chromatic games that point to Gothic atmospheres.
The painting is characterized by sumptuous and elegant shapes, enriched with floral themes, vigorous nature and ancient ruins that inspire the sensation of the defeat of the things produced by man, giving the spectator the emotion of passing time. less
