Nice Eglomise (reverse glass painting) atop mirror in gilt wood Federal Frame. 1815. Bought at auction from Pook & Pook. A label on the back states “Hornet, Guerriere, Java Peacock”
I have no idea what this means other then Hornet being the name of one of the gunships.
The navel engagement shows both tall ships taking many canon ball blows to the sails. The American’s Canon fire port side in plumes of smoke.. The battle elegantly framed in kiwi slices. A stunning trophy statement to accent any narrow space.
