Gorgeous mid century modern abstract brutalist cityscape by Peter Sword from the 1960s. Painted on a wooden board with original wood frame. Raised paint strokes add a very textural quality to this artwork. Signed on the bottom in the center. Quite a stunner!
Almost nothing is known for sure about Peter Sword (1939-2018), the artist was a long time residency of San Francisco’s bohemian North Beach neighborhood. He is said to have returned from the Vietnam War troubled by his experience and to have turned to art-making and drugs as a way of dealing with his anxiety. less
