Circa Mid 19th Century. This Swing Handle - Convex Bottom Style Cooking Pot was designed to be Used in a Fireplace and Would have Been Suspended by a Hinged Swing Style Fireplace "Crane" Hanger when Used. It is Completely Hand Made. The Pot is Hand Hammered - Fashioned Out of Thick - Heavy Gauge Solid Copper. The Hand Wrought Iron Swing Handle is Attached to Substantially Solid Cast Brass Brackets that are Attached to the Pot with Copper Rivets. It is Quite Heavy Weighing Approx. 5 Pounds. NOTE That the Wrought Iron Handle has a Added Feature - Design on Both Ends that Enables it to be easily Accessed - Moved and Adjusted on the Crane with a Fireplace Hook Tool. It is in Very Good All Original Condition - No Damage or Repairs. Note however that it is Quite Tarnished Etc. - Needs a Good Cleaning & Polishing!.
The Copper Pot Itself Measures 7 inches Tall at Top Rim x 11 1/4 inches Wide. It is 12 1/2 inches Tall x 13 1/4 inches Long Including the Handle in the Upright - Fully Extended Position.
