Outstanding piece of art glass by John Brekke, circa 1990s/2000s, exact age not known. Brekke's work resides in some of the world's most prestigious collections, including The Smithsonian, The Renwick Gallery, The Corning Museum of Glass and the Museum of Art & Design.
Massive and masterful sculptural vessel featuring pop culture/graffiti imagery in 360º, very skillfully rendered in graal technique. The contrast of the yellow and black is fantastic, and super luminous due to the layer of the white interior casing. The cobalt upper portion is the perfect cap to the funky decor.
The vase measures 7.5”x 13.75 and weighs a hefty 32lbs (unpacked). Condition is excellent, no chips or cracks, minor handling/storage wear at top edge. Unmarked, undated, but confirmed as a John Brekke work by the artist himself, via Instagram (see screengrab). less
