A favorite pastime of mine has been collecting gorgeously cool cake pedestal cake stands and salvers. It mattered not if they were antique, vintage or new; glass or other mediums but they must be unique. Having amassed quite a collection, I'm “right-sizing” now. This winsome beauty was made in the 1960s by L.E. Smith / Smith Glass based on the Quintec mold the company purchased in the 1950s from McKee Glass, which went bankrupt. It is part of Smith’s Heritage Collection, a collection that paid homage to the original Quintec pattern from McKee. Crafted from moulded pressed glass, the pattern consists of hobstars and cane panels alternating with fine point panels. It measures 11½” x 4½” D/H; weight 2 lbs. 13 oz. In excellent condition with minimal visible use wear. There are random inclusions and straw marks that are original to the manufacturer and not uncommon in glass production (photos 7 shows inclusion within the glass at tip). This beauty is a real head turner that will complement any tablescape and be a perfect serveware piece at your next gathering!
