This is a really wonderful original oil painting by Christian ("Chris") Neil Borggren. The artist was born in Denmark in 1896 and died in California in 1980. It is a beautiful farm scene with a great deal of color and depth in Good condition. As you can see in the photos there are areas of craquelure from the age of the piece, but it does not appear that any repairs or restorations have been done so I believe it is in otherwise original condition. It is mounted in a very nice, solid vintage frame.
Borggren was an artist, painter, architect, and teacher. He was educated at Aarhus Technical College and the Steiider School of Fine Art and studied under artists Wiggo Steuder and Carl Rostgaard in Denmark. He also studied under Eugene Kissling and Maurice de Vlaminck in Paris. He returned to Denmark prior to his move to the USA..
This painting has the light texture of paint and brush strokes reminiscent of Impressionism, crisp lines and angles reflected in Modernism, and the soft, comfortable feeling seen in centuries of beautiful landscape paintings. less
