The cloth is very thin … Read more Rare Broderie Perse tapestry quilt that features a nature scene that includes birds & trees. The cloth is very thin almost sheer with hand stitched appliqué birds throughout. The fabric is either cotton or linen. Some dark spots usually from sunlight can be founds on some parts of the quilt. The linen style cloth has some frayed edges but this beautiful quilt or topper is in great condition for its age. I was told by a quilt historian that it was created in the early 1800s. There are no tears in the quilt. I don’t know the providence . It was purchased from an auction sale among other textile items that I own.
