Francis Joseph von Tury (1901 - 1992) was a fourth generation Hungarian potter. After emigrating to the US in 1929 he invented a unique "single firing" process for porcelain which is now the standard. Equally renowned for his talent as an artisan - his work initially gained fame at the 1935 and 1939 World Fairs. Throughout the balance of his lengthy career "Joe" maintained an atelier studio.
