Originally cast from captured Austrian cannons the column was dedicated to the victorious French army in the campaign of 1805 culminating in the Battle of Austerlitz. Mounted on a black marble or slate base with a bronze picket fence. Rare small version that is a model reduction and not a thermometer. Paris, circa 1870. See less
