The octagonal black scagliola top with a central bouquet of flowers and fruit accompanied by individual hyacinth, daisy, carnation and rose branches rests loosely on an interior ledge and can be easily removed for transport. In the lower part of the table, the dainty legs are connected by S-shaped curved intersecting struts, the intersection accented by a fully sculptural rocaille. Highly decorative small salon table or center table from the time of Napoleon III with excellent wood carving and an intricately decorated rare scagliola top. Scagliola was a particularly elaborate type of stucco lustro, in which dyed calcium sulfate masses were worked into stone slabs previously prepared with bas-reliefs, creating richly decorated scenes or floral ornamentation.
