A lovely canvas that captures exactly the particular flavor of the California desert. Oil on board measures 17 3/4" x 23 1/4" and the frame is 24 1/4" x 30".
Born in Holland on May 16, 1915 as Gerlof Wiebren Houbein, he later changed his name to Carl. Houbein moved to Australia/New Zealand about 1953 and lived there until moving to southern California in 1960. He died in Los Angeles on Sept. 14, 2001.
