I made a group of pieces around 2010 inspired by origami folded shapes. This is one of them. The surface is made of two geometric cut pieces assembled to resemble folded paper.
I'm adding a photo of "Chevron" in context with some antique pieces. I like the juxtaposition of the old with the crisp contemporary.
The surface materials are composite wood. The top triangular piece is 1/4 inch thick, and the bottom geometric piece is 3/4 inch thick. To add dimension there are 1/2 inch spacers on the back and one spacer angling the top piece slightly.
The paint is acrylic with painted papers, printed paper and acrylic drips applied with acrylic.
The stripes take me back to the late 60's Washington, DC artists. I lived through that wonderful art period.
