19th century French Oak Office Library Desk Sofa Table Barley Twist Louis XIII
~Direct from France~
~Lovely antique French writing desk, versatile for so many uses; in addition to serving as a desk in your home office, it’s also perfect for a sofa table or foyer table, even a center table, as it is carved on all sides and easily placed in the center of a room~
~Elegant silhouette created with double barley twist columns on each side as well as the full length barley twist cross stretcher (always a sign of quality)~
~Opulent carved frieze (apron) with twin large winged serpents on either side of a carved center medallion. Two drawers are hidden behind the elaborate carvings on the front!~
~Both sides have dimensional carved frieze; corners feature 8 carved blocks and thick, drop finials~
~Elongated carved and grooved scroll feet~
~Sturdy and strong, dovetailed joinery, well built by craftsmen of the period~
