A conical shaped terracotta vase with dimpled sides by Clement Massier (France, 1844-1917) masquerading as glass.

Massier is widely considered to be the founder the modern ceramic industry of Vallauris, Southern France, and one of the key creators of modern lusterware with iridescent glaze. A master ceramist and glazer, Massier set up his own factory in 1883 in Golfe-Juan, which quickly became a destination for the elite who summered in Monaco, Nice, and Cannes.
