Magnificent Louis XV slope desk, enriched with rosewood, violet wood, lemon tree and amaranth marquetry.
This refined desk has a large drawer in the lower part overhung by two small drawers. The fronts are in veneer with rosewood in the center surrounded by a net of lemon and a net of green tinted wood, interlaced. The perimeter of each of the fronts is in violet wood with an external border in rosewood. The handles and the entrances of these drawers are in original bronze. The locks are also original, in working order and accompanied by later keys.
At the top of this elegant furniture, we find a flap made of a panel of rosewood veneer in butterfly wing with in its center an oval marquetry in the form of a medallion composed of a large tulip surrounded by flowers in light wood and stained wood. Around the central panel we find a succession of nets of various species accompanied by a string of alternating squares and angles formed by four triangles. The amaranth and rosewood are surrounded by violet wood and the chamfered rosewood again.
The flap is maintained in open position by original iron hooks. The frame is in walnut and the center is lined with a wine leather with cold vignette, golden vignette and golden central motif. The interior part called tabernacle is in walnut. We find 4 small drawers with fronts inlaid with rosewood, lemon and violet wood, and brass lentil buttons with rosette. We also discover a large hiding place hidden by a sliding part.
This magnificent desk rests on four slightly curved feet in rosewood, violet wood and lemon wood veneer, resting on original bronze shoes.
This quality piece of furniture has benefited from the use of precious woods and an authentic assembly in the 18th century. It will delight by all its inlaid faces, its details and its bright colors.
