The Black Edition of the Minox B Subminiature Camera is a rare find. Made in Germany in the 1960's, it measures 3.82" x 1.06" x .59". It has an ultralight aluminum shell and selenium meter. The 15mm f/3.5 lens is capable of focusing as close as 8" to infinity. During production, it achieved a niche market as a luxury item. The Minox B also attracted the attention of intelligence agencies in the US, England and Germany, due to its small size and close focusing ability. It was used by both sides throughout the Cold War. This espionage use, as well as its portrayal in Hollywood movies, is how it became known as a "Spy Camera".
This Black Edition Minox B comes in the original box and plastic case. Also included is the manual, leather case, chain and registration card. Not only does the chain allow the camera to be attached to a button on your clothing, it can also be used as a distance measuring device when setting the focusing dial on the camera. It is 60cm long and has small markers at 20, 24, 30 and 40cm, just like the markings on the focusing dial. Very handy for photographing documents.
The cardboard box shows moderate scuffing , residue from being taped shut, and one corner of the bottom portion is split. Non of these imperfections interfere with its functionality. The plastic case has some scuffing. The camera and additional accessories have only minor wear. Please refer to the pictures. A true collector's item in overall excellent, vintage condition. less
