These were often carved by sailors on ships in … more A whimsical carved coconut shell bank, probably late 19th/early 20th century. These were often carved by sailors on ships in their down time. This one is smaller than usual with a slot in the top to insert coins and a hole in the front, probably where the stem originally attached it to the tree, which gives it the appearance of a mouse. It already has quite a few coins in it, but it would take an adept safe cracker to get them out since the slot is the only opening. A great means of becoming an investment banker! less
