The Theater Stage is an original Contemporary Artwork realized by Antoni Tapies (Barcelona, 1923 – 2012) in 1976. Original Colored Lithograph. Sheet Dimensions: 490 x 755 mm. Hand-signed in pencil on the lower right corner by the artist. Numbered in pencil on the lower left corner by the artist: 71/75. Edition of 75 prints. Printed by Imprimerie Arte, Paris. Published by Maeght Editeur, Paris. Excellent conditions. It is on of the 75 pencil-signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. There is also an edition of unknown size bound into Georges Raillard's Tàpies (Paris: Maeght Editeur, 1976) in which the lithograph is bound into the book (285 x 280mm) as a two-page centerfold, trimmed to fit and unsigned. One of Tàpies' richest prints showing the stage on which his images perform the play of life. Antoni Tapies (Barcelona, 1923 – 2012). He is considered one of the leading figures of Informalism. After establishing his first atelier in Barcelona in 1946, he moved to Paris, where he met Picasso. In 1950, he was elected to represent Spain at the Biennial Art Fair in Venice. From this moment, Tàpies' career kept developing in influence and volume of work. Indeed, he was commissioned many works for public spaces and buildings. Tàpies was also an innovator in many fields, such as scenography and illustration. He exhibited his works throughout the world, winning many honors and awards. In 1987, the artist founded the Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
