Description: This beautiful and elegant piece was probably made around Boston in the early 20th century. Its design was inspired by … more This beautiful and elegant piece was probably made around Boston in the early 20th century. Its design was inspired by late 18th century New England Hepplewhite styled secretary bookcases. It was handmade by a very skilled cabinetmaker using the very best materials available. It is constructed of French polished mahogany and flame mahogany bookmatched veneer with satinwood and ebony inlay and gold embossed leather writing surface. The solid brass hardware is hand cast. It comes into 2 pieces for moving and has 3 removable shelves in the top. The desk portion has 8 drawers and 2 slides that pull out to support the writing surface. less
