Mary Faulconer's depiction of the New York lighthouse, Execution Rock, appears realistic due to the artist's careful attention to detail. Essentially identical to the actual lighthouse located in the Long Island Sound, this mid-19th century lighthouse may be uninhabited in reality, but the warm lights coming from the windows of the stone keeper's house make the scene feel lived-in and welcoming.
