This Really is a Great Looking - Very High Quality Antique Nautical Brass Ships Combination Barometer and Thermometer. Circa Very Early 20th Century. It Reads at the Lower Base of the Dial "HOLOSTERIC BAROMETER". It is Signed By the Well Known, Documented and Esteemed Maker T. S. & J. D. NEGUS of 140 WATER STREET - NEW YORK. There is Quite a Bit of Information and History About This Company Available on the Internet. It has a Beautiful Silvered Dial that Has Developed Some Light Age Staining Over the Years Giving is a Wonderful Authentic Old Look. Note! Also the the Center of the Dial has Classic "Engine Turned " Type Engraving as an Added Decoration. The Barometer has a Very Fine Quality Hollow Heavy Gauge Brass Encasement. It is in Very Good Overall Original Cosmetic and Functional Condition. No Damage - No Repairs. Note! That This is a Professional Grade - Marine Grade Barometer - Intended for Accuracy.
Barometer Case ( Not Including Screw Mounting Brackets ) Measures 7 inches Long - Tall x 2 3/4 inches Wide - Deep a Mounted on Wall.
HOW TO SET - CALIBRATE THE BAROMETER WHEN IT ARRIVES.
The Back of the Case has a Hole that Gives access to a Small Screw that can Be accessed with a Small Screwdriver This Being Used to Accurately Set - Calibrate The Barometric Pressure at your Specific Location ( Screwdriver Pictured is Used to illustrate and Not Included With This Sale ). To Set the Barometer to Your Location First Determine the True Barometric Pressure at that Moment and Then Insert a Small Screwdriver. By Turning the Screw while Looking at the Dial you can Move the Hand to the Proper Barometric Pressure and then the Barometer Set. Next Step - The Beveled Glass Front has Another Pointer ( Gold Color ) That Can be Turned - Adjusted With the Small Brass Knob so then Rotate the Pointer So That it Covers - Is Directly Over the Barometers Hand. After That You Will be Able to Use it as a Reference Point as the Barometer Hand Moves - Changes.
