Untitled is an original artwork realized by Jacques Hérold in 1974. Original colored lithograph. Good conditions. Printed by Mourlot , France. This lithograph was realized by the artist in 1974 for éditions XXe Siècle - XLIII - 74 . The artwork represents an abstract composition on the tones of pink and green. Jacques Hérold (born Herold Blumer; 1910 – 1987) was a painter, printmaker, illustrator, and sculptor, who studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest between 1925 and 1929. Not wanting to become an academic painter, Hérold abandoned his formal education and became an architectural draftsman. Upon his arrival in Paris, he changed his name to Jacques Hérold. He worked for Constantin Brancusi and met Victor Braun, Yves Tanguy and André Breton and, in 1934, he officially joined Breton's Surrealist group. Hérold was also an illustrator and he designed covers and illustrations for more than eighty books by renowned authors. His work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington; Musées royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique; the Musuem of Modern Art, Liege; the Musée Cantini, Marseilles; Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome; National Museum of Modern Art, Centre George Pompidou; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and t he Israel Museum, Jerusalem, among others. Gualtieri di San Lazzaro (Giuseppe Papa, 1904-1974), editor, collector, and critic, gave life to a major magazine of contemporary art: he founded and directed the magazine XXe Siècle , published in Paris since 1938, dedicating each issue to a different theme of contemporary art and illustrating it with original graphics by masters such as Arp, Henri Laurens, Miró, Klee, Moore, Marino Marini, Magnelli, Picasso etc. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
