This is an upholstered bed frame with draperies that are upholstered as an essential part of the tester bed. Obviously the piece needs to be reupholstered to a designers and clients taste. Essential part is the gilt and fruitwood carved bed and metal frames. They can be shipped with the drapery and bed cover to be used as a template for new upholstery or shift with ouch. Most designers would want them shipped West fourth perfect fitting template
late 18-19th century, the bowed tester supported by scroll and columnar posts on guilloche-carved and fluted head and footboards with upholstered panels, both finished and upholstered on the front and back, together with a pair of matching bolsters and bed hanging. With guilloche carved arched top rails, stop-fluted frames and patera block angles, surmounted by an oval canopy with an egg-and-dart moulded and stop-fluted surround. A related Louis XVI giltwood lit a la polonaise was made for the Petit Trianon at the Chateau de Versailles.
