Fred Press was a versatile American artist know best for his sculpture work. He was also a painter and was a well known designer of mid-century glassware. He trained and taught at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA, won numerous awards, and was widely collected. His works have been curated by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and Worcester Art Museum. This offering is the bust of a female ballerina consisting of what appears to be cast plaster. It is signed on the base. The bust is 8.5' tall.
Very good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age. There is a chip at the rear base area near the signature along with a few small losses of the cream colored glaze. Please see photos.
