Large vase in the shape of a flower, johann loetz witwe, supposedly decor silberblatt, ca. 1910 organic shapes were highly appreciated by the buying audience and the designers of the loetz manufacture invented a high number of floral objects. Jack-in-the-pulpit and floriform vases had great success during the early times of the loetz enterprise and were executed in many different decoration variants. In the years around 1910, a large number of new designs with organic forms were made. The success of these pieces with the public was unbroken. Even today these objects are very popular with collectors. The impressive size and the very good condition of this vase are particularly striking. We could not find any structural damage of the glass; with such filigree tendrils and melts it is a small miracle! the design sketch of this vase also includes an unknown decoration variant called “silver leaf”. Perhaps this vase could be an example of this unknown decoration variant. Bib.: j. Lnenickova, “loetz – series ii paper patterns for glass from 1900 to 1914”, susice 2011, no. Ii-7514, p. 709 this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
