This is an original carriage lap robe blanket. Carriage robes were designed for the cold carriage rides of the Victorian era and were very heavy so they did not fly out – they were also used in the early automobiles as they did not have heaters. This is an amazing piece of Americana Heritage and is in fabulous condition. This one dates to the early 1900’s. It is in Very Rare and Excellent Condition. Made by the Chase Company with the original label. This wonderful old carriage blanket is made of mohair and wool and features a truly spectacular flower pattern with a black solid back. Very heavy and very warm. It measures 48” x 58” and weighs 6.5 lbs. Comes from a smoke free environment. less
