A very good 19th century pier table with a conforming wonderful red and yellow marble top, it features a pierced apron with repeating cresting waves highlighted by acanthus relief. The center of the apron is a brilliant display of symmetrical foliage swirling around rosettes. Turned and tapered columnar stop-fluted legs with acanthus capitals raise the table, each locked in place with a curvy stretcher over toupee feet. Beneath the marble top shows a yellow-wash surface with a dovetailed fore-aft brace locking the front and back of the apron together. The surface is old and attractive with gilding and later inpainting, surface wear throughout and an overall tarnished patina. It presents beautifully.
Measurements: 41 5/8" H x 18 1/4" D x 53" W
