This iconic floor lamp was designed by Oscar Torlasco and manufactured by Lumi, Italy. This lamp was a symbol of modernist 1950s, due to its fixtures and design. It was designed during the period of Torlasco’s’s technical growth. In 1959 he won the Italian Design award Compasso d`Oro for his street lighting titled "Genova 4053". This floor lamp is one of his earlier pieces “Genova 3865”, it was commissioned for a client in Cagliari, I am given to understand a rare and unique piece of Torlasco’s design.
This lamp has a brass base and main structure with 3 arms, which can been turned to different angles, very flexible, and it has 3 coloured lacquered shades. The shades are in original condition and the red one in particular is quite flaky but I did not wish to touch it as it is for the buyers own choice whether they wish to recolour, it is a matter of individual taste! All parts are original and the only thing that has changed is that it has been rewired.
This is an absolutely beautiful piece and will make a stunning statement in your home or office!
