Offered here for your consideration is a very fine cylindrical sterling silver box by Jocelyn Burton.
The box's lid is … more Offered here for your consideration is a very fine cylindrical sterling silver box by Jocelyn Burton.
The box's lid is richly encrusted with miniature silver sea shells and bezel set with 2 moonstone cabochon gemstones.
The sides of the box are thick-gauged and the lid slides on perfectly in a tight fit. The interior is gilt.
Jocelyn Burton was an enormously important English female silver and goldsmith. She executed numerous commissions to the Queen and was given the honor of making the first strike on the first English piece of platinum in the London Assay Office in 1973. She had a storied career and was recognized with awards and accolades for her excellent work for roughly four decades.
Burton's early work often touched on oceanic themes, and this box is a fine example of that work. It is simply a wonderful dresser box that is made to an extraordinarily high level of quality!

It is in overall very good, as-pictured used estate condition.
